I also thought that the game had glitched or softlocked during at least 2 of the pixel hunt segments. So many baffling choices made in the game but this is specifically bad, both because you're expected to remember how to perform an action that was briefly mentioned in the tutorial at the beginning of the game and that every single other ability can only be used after the game expressly tells you that you can. I hope Metroid Dread doesn't so much as reference this failure. I'll never touch it again, and I'm upset that I spent $20 on the eShop to download it. I actually said, "This game sucks," aloud multiple times during my play through. So like the thread title says, I hate this game.
Samus follows orders for awhile and gets told "good job". She doesn't do a single thing worth mentioning for the entirety of the game. She has no arc Samus is an empty shell at the beginning of the game and remains an empty shell by the end. The story ruins the entire Metroid arc, not to mention Samus as a character. There's no sense of exploration, no feeling of discovery. It's overall design-both artistically and scenario-is uninspired. I wondered if, after a decade, would my opinion change?
